I had some problems last month with high nitrates, but I have that under control now. Unfortunately, my six line developed an infection in his eye which continues to get worse. I thought perhaps the better water quality would help, but it has not. Do I need to catch this guy and put him in a QT? Or is there anything I can put right into my 180g reef that is safe? Catching a six line ain't easy.

And finally, what would you use to treat this?

Thanks in advance.

Wow, treating him in the 180 is just about impossible I would think. There are those that advocate adding garlic directly to the water, but I've never done it myself. I have used brine and mysis soaked in garlic and Selcon with good results but it was in a much smaller tank and I could pretty much target feed the fish.

Maybe, given time and the better water q he will rebound on you :|

I always dosed the tank with Melafix - fish and corals didn't seem to mind but the skimmer sure did. If you could trap him it may be safer to dose in quarantine...
