Never ordered them before, but I have a ton and they seem to reproduce rather quickly.

Don't really know.. I was told to try to get mini stars for my tank for my harlequin shrimp as a reliable food source that reproduces....

dont even waste your time , the shrimp will eat more stars then they can reproduce in your tank, Harly shrimp may be small ,but they eat every star in sight. Get a CC star and use one leg a week and the body as welll for a weeks worth of food. One CC star fish should last you 5 weeks if not 6

ronen i think one leg a week is overkill. think about one leg rotting faster than shrimp can eat it especially on the second day. also one leg mass is atleast 50 times more of the shrimp.

G. My harly eats one leg a week no problem. the cleaning crew will clean up what the harly leaves over :usa1:

I always just gave them the whole the starfish never noticed any rotting away..

i was sick whatching a slime from the led just floating in to the water while harley sit and eat none stop ffor 3 days . i think it is a plain overfeeding

I tried that one leg a week and it didn't work.He wound up dead.I guess he had a bigger appetite than I thought.At first I had a whole bunch of cc stars and would pull them out once one leg was off to give it time to regenarate.That takes forever.
Tobin I'm gong to check a shop in Brooklyn on the way home for stars and I can drop it off.Call my cell later to check.
I was in Reef Fantasy last night and they have no stars.

Petland carrys CC star for cheap. the LFS in brklyn charge $18 to $20 a star

Ive been feeding my harly one leg a week for over 6months. he is doing great . I dont wait for the leg to grow back ,that is just like watching the grass grow lol.

I tried shipping them once and they all dissolved. Once you have them they will multiply based on the amount of stuff there is to feed them. I do not have anything in my tank that will eat them so I usually have a lot. It is hard to pick them out. I found that the best way is if there is a ball of chaeto they congregate there when the lights are out since the chaeto probably catches a lot of gunk that they eat. I am in Brooklyn not far from the verazzano. I could probably give you a dozen but lately I have not seen too many bacause my chaeto has not been growing well. If you are interested give me a pm and I will check my tank tonight to see if it is possible to pull some out.

bob u have some great stores on staten, animal kingdom and reef fantasy. i have the mini stars in my tank ( i didnt buy them) and they reproduce very fast. i never had a harly shrimp so dont know if its sustainable but my sb was crawling with them.
