Refugium Question

Now that I have a FOWLR tank,is it necessary to put mud or substrate in there?Was just thinking only macroalge and some live rock.

How are you using it? As a phosphate/silicate sponge or as a refuge for small critters such as copepods?

That's the way I have my 125 sump/refugium set up....I got enough mac to give everyone on this sight a piece... From a handful in 1 month...

Mainly for nitrate and phosphate sponge and can I put something to get rid of the debris?

my fuge is a little fine substrate, rock, and macro. Nothing fancy. I wouldn't put anything in it to catch debris because you will also be catching critters! I would put a debris somewhere else in your filter system.

mine has rock, macro, chaeto, Xenia, and tons of pods.

I have so much I had to throw it somewhere so- into the fuge it went.
It dropped on a rock and, It just decided to keep growing!

Xenias make great scrubbers! They grow like weeds!
