New Era Lights

So, I've made a few posts indicating I have not been in the hobby for the past 16 years or so. Lots of experience back then, but lots has changed! Then, the going light systems were compact florescent and metal halide for decent coral lighting.
What has changed and what are the best options now? (For 36g nano). Looking to light soft, lps and will add couple of fish.

I'd go with the viparspectrum LED from Amazon, full spectrum, good quality and build, we were just talking about them last month. I personally use ocean revive, it has a better spread for less watts, but cost $30 more.
