I currently have a watergeneral ro+di, purchased from ebay. My problem is I have phosphates and I tested the ro water and thats where it is coming from, so I would like to know can I just replace the media with a different type of brand or would I have to buy another (real) brand ro. FYI I already replaced all the media in there- membrane, all three filters and the di and no results.

ummmh, I just ordered a complete set of filters to replace my watergeneral ro+di from ebay. I suspect it to be the cause of my current nitrate problem.

Did you try replacing the membrane? Any TDS reading?

Check the the water coming out of the faucet. Also see if you can get someone local who has a Hanna meter who can check your water.

Check before RO, after RO, and in the tank.

There is NOTHING wrong with units from Water General, or the filters/resin they use! I know many people who use them (including me).
My readings after the filter are all "0"
I even have a Hanna meter that I test with.
If your getting high nitrates/ phosphates then your resin or filters need to be replaced.
If your unit is less than 2 years old the membrane should be fine.
This unit uses "REAL" brand supplies- made by Honeywell.
How bad is your water BEFORE you filter it?

Well I order brand new media from the watergeneral company themselves to see if that was the issue and it wasnt. I still get ONLY high phosphates before mixing salt. And I havent done a test on my tap water yet, I will do it when I get home, i am at work
