Interesting article..the most important words in there are about whether you can feel the scratches with your fingernail.
I recently had a long discussion with the boss at my local glass shop and was told that if you can feel them with your fingernail..you will not be able to remove them as they are too deep.

If you can't feel them with your fingernail ..you need to get the super fine powder them mention in the article and using an absolutely soft cloth, use a circular motion, very lightly to remove the scratches.
Good luck!:)

Most of the abrasive materials have metals inside that are bad for reeftanks. Be careful with it all. Its alot of work preparing and then buffing it out and if you mess up you'll have more scratches than u started with. The glass people i deal with told me to either replace the glass or if not then deal with it b/c its not worth it.

I used to use WHITE TOOTHPASTE to take scratches off my glasses and watches, and it worked with no problem. Little paste and soft cloth and rub in circular motions and boom they were gone. But make sure that you use WHITE PASTE. Not sure if this can work for you, might be hard to use anything if you have stuff in the tank.
