Desk Lamp(s) 6500K For Nano?

Its been awhile since Ive been back on the boards but just wanted to say hello and welcome myself back lol ... With that id like to start out by saying im interested again in doing a small come back with a 10-20g nano tank....

Here is my idea (yes it may be alittle strange) but i thought i would throw it out there in hopes it could work...

I have these 2 desk lamps from homedepot with quad bulb 27w 6500k bulbs in it..(there coloring is extremely white) i was wondering since they look like viper clip on lights if i could use these for the time being over my 10g (if i use that tank) to get things going and even maybe use them in the long run...

Only problem these can only hold 6500k as the highest color temp ... Reason being is its my last semester at school and money is always tight, what does everyone think?? :bigeyes2:

Well I have been keeping a Pecock Mantis tank (10gal) for about 4 months and the light over it is a daylight 6500K bulb in a clip on light from HD. I have Zenia in the tank and a big rock covered in GSP. They have done fine...

Hi Chris, welcome back.

It all depends on what animals you want to keep. The easy answer is, no way for sps, most lps and clams. Softies you'd probably be fine. I doubt the color of those bulbs will bring out much in the color of the corals, but that doesn't sound like it's a concern.

Fish, it's a non issue. You'd be fine.

Thanks, yeah the color will eventually be an issue (thats for sure) lol ... but for now just for start up seems like a decent inexpensive way, ... at least for cycling purposes anyway ....
My only other option could be a strip florescent light at 10k .... but one light is only 15w .... thats not much light ... at least these homedepots would carry 50+wtts even if its 65k ....
