Everyone’s worst fear

Went downstairs and saw my tank’s pumps were spewing bubbles and my sump was almost empty. I thought there was a leak. Thankfully I just left the fill hose in the sump which back siphoned into my 55 gallon water storage. Phew. It was a nerve racking 60 seconds when I first went downstairs. Over 300 gallons of salt water in a finished basement would have ended bad.

When I have a close call, I thank that it did not get worse and then keep a reminder, to figure out how I can prevent these things from happening in the future. Finally, after a few weeks, (procrastination), I get to the solution. Still never remove risk, but getting better at prevention...

Oh wow! Glad to hear that little hiccup didn't annihilate your basement. Worst fear, for sure!

Went on vacation for 12 days checked over every single thing on my tank ..all good. 2 days before vacation was to end I figured I would check the apex. Found out my return pump crapped out 2 hours after I left for vacation..pics below show before and after

I'm not going to lie the thought has definitely crossed my mind alot about shutting down the tank after that big hurtful hit to the tank.the after photo was taken before the whole pandemic hit the world and trying to buy corals was hard enough or nearly impossible but I never gave up.my only problem now is which direction to go..lps. sps.just been hard finding inspiration to try to get the tank back to the state it was.or better yet time..time is always the factor now.i have been adding corals here and there just nothing to brag about
