Curious too. People say it’s good for fishies at night. But my small tank has very weak flow so fishies are getting beat by the current. Guess some people with heavy acro tanks want to lower flow for fishies. This is my guess. Would love to know other peoples answer/experience

It’s basically is a light sensor on the controller which decreases the pumps flow when the room is dark. I don’t think in nature there is a significant difference in flow from day to night. That said, however many believe because most corals feed at night with their sweepers and polyps extended they can better catch food particles. Personally I don’t use it on my pumps.

Which I figured out means that your controllers have to mounted outside your stand.
