I would remove the board on the bottom of the stand, especially since it's bowing out already, and put the sump on the floor with a mat underneath it. You'll then be able to get the skimmer under the tank, unless of course there are cross bars on the bottom of the stand.

yeah there are cross bars on the bottom of the stand. forgot to mention it. even without it, it still wont fit it....if i do go with a smaller skimmer, i dont even have the money to get one unless its under 50 haha.

has anyone actually tried doing hangon skimmer? how was the perform?

I have a coralife 125 on my 75g and I had the same problem as you. I set it up hang-on style and the thing is a beast. Venturi needle wheel action at its finest. If you set that sucker up hang-on style, just make sure to keep the pump at least 3" from the surface of the tank, or there will not be enough oxygen mixed to give you an effective skim.

I ran the same skimmer as a hang on while I was breaking it in. There's no difference in performance. You should think about adding a gate valve to the output to adjust the hieght better than the red knob.

As nyreefnoob mentioned, this wont work on a fw tank.

i dont have the pump. can i get a different one or i need the same pump?

You can def get a different pump, however, in my experience, I always try to keep the brands matched together....it makes trouble shooting alot easier. The coralife pump is specifically designed for that skimmer. There are plenty of other needle wheel pumps on the market, but they tend to get rather expensive.
