I'm new to Manhattan Reefs although I belong to another reefer forum. I didn't find you until today-have been reefing for a little while (sometimes more sucessfully than others). I run a BB tank and have not had great success with SPS corals, although I have tried. Anyway, hi everbody, looking forward to reading and exploring your site!

I think I have a few others to show you...bells and whistles, the tank is no where near what I want it to be....1st is a pic of a fairly new Trigger, 2nd is a Ca Reactor, 3rd Tangs and couple of corals....my sump, which I can't seem to find a pic of, holds about 200 gal.- I run with filter socks...my lighting(way to much!, I know) is 3x400w MH and 4x96w actinics. I usually just run the center MH because all 3 on together seems too much and I have had temp problems due to the lights. There is a center piece of glass that always seems to build algae, so I run the center MH to break through as much as it can, but mostly just the actinics..oh, yeah, I have a skimmer-PM bullet XL2 or 3, can't remember....Sorry for the haphazzard reporting of the tank--I really got write this stuff down somewhere so I can refer to it in a manner of less ignorance....

Hi to you all, you sure know how to make a newbie to your site feel welcome! Big dogg 28, hope you have more use for your 400's than I ! I found that my water cleared to such an extreme running a barebottom tank that they have just about become useless for me. It seems besides the heat they generate that the uv they are able to get through the clearness of the water is bleaching many of the corals. I'm still finding my way around running the tank this way...my current thought is that it is too clean or at least I'm keeping it too clean so I'm trying to leave a little detrius around to help...but wish you the best with you lighting!
