I need some help with high TDS. My municipal well produces a TDS of 480.
The best I can get before the DI filter is 29. At this rate I am blowing thru
DI resin wayyyy too quickly. All the pr-filters and carbons are new, as is the RO. Anything other than adding a second DI filter that I can do?

Matt: 1 sediment, 2 carbon Should I add another?

NYCMatt: The outflow is what appears to be normal.

Right now the system's working at a 93-94% efficiency rate.Manufacturer's advertised 98% rate are for syatems where the incoming TDS is less than 300.

Wondering if adding more carbon prefilters or an additonal DI would help?

Kris,

My incoming TDS is at 600-650. I can get it down to 2. I never checked to see what it is before the DI though. I change my DI out about every two months; probably 100 gallons worth.

I run in the filter in this order:
5 micron sediment--> 1 micron sediment-->carbon-->membrane-->DI

Glad to here an OC guy. If you live in the city this isn't an issue.
Only one carbon filter? Maybe adding a second sediment flter like you have would help me. Which DI resin are you using. I'm switching from the AWI stuff to the Purolator. Hoping that will also help.

I run a similar configuration as TimberTDI, but I use two carbon blocks. I use a 10 micron sediment filter, then a 5 micron carbon filter, and finally a 1 micron carbon filter. I have never measured the TDS prior to the th DI resin, but then again I got that low TDS city water.
