yup. It slows down the flow a bit. My SCWD is 5 months old and I'm having problems with it switching properly. I'll notice it will stay on one side for like 15sec and the other side for 5sec. Then it will just get stuck on one side at which point I take apart the plumbing and run the scwd with a powerhead in a bowl of vinegar. That seems to free up any calcium buildup inside and allows it to work properly for a few weeks ....then I clean it again :rolleyes:

I'm using one in my closed-loop setup. Bottom inlet tends to not have the greatest seal and will leak at the rate of 2 or 3 drips per minute - that is until it fixes itself with some salt kreep.

Been running for around a week without any problems thus far, but after everything i've read - this thing won't last.
