Unless you can pick the stuff up, which he wouldn't let you, I would stay away from him. He heavily photo shop everything and over charges for shipping.

He has changed his name many times on ebay, from all the negative feedbacks he has received and he has a bunch under the new name.

If you're looking for Zoa's there is another seller not to far from you, Mt Vernon, that sells on ebay.

I've contacted him in the past. He is minutes away in tarrytown yet wont do local pickup. I find it sketchy and as reefman stated he photoshops everything. He also has too much negative feedback.

Thanks guys. You've reenforced my gut feeling. The only eBay corals I've bought are from the guy in Mt. Vernon and he let me pick them up and had not altered his photos. His zoas were actually much more colorful in real life than in his pix.

I've bought stuff from him before, they all came dead or dieing. sent pictures and emails and he refused to replace or refund me.

DO NOT PURCHASE FROM HIM!!

he over states the color and the numbers of polyps. I ordered three pieces totaling 60+ polyps and i only received about half of that. I ordered from him almost two years ago and left negative feedback. He still hasn't changed as you can see by all the negative feedback he still receives.

I've purchased from the guy out in mt vernon a bunch of times, really nice frag's, and he doesn't rob you blind on shipping. I've picked up before, but with his schedule it's not his preference. Overall, I give this guy an A+, for being a really cool guy, and good seller

Never bought from the guy in Tarrytown, nice stuff, but like people have said the photoshop thing, and no local pickup turned me off.

I ask him a question about local pick up being available and he replied no. He was very rude. Don't know how ebay manages to allow him to stay on there with the constant negative feedbacks. Also with all the competition with friendlier vendors (with better incentives like free shipping on larger purchases and local pick up) out there i don't know why people still buy from him.

This may be irrelevent but if you ever need zoos i'd say ask around here cause you'll get the best prices and the healthiest stuff right here on MR. Just my opinion.:wink1:

ebay is a lot more known than MR so many fall into victims.
people r attracted by his nice enhanced color pics which he invested a Fujifilm FinePix S7000 in taking. then spend time editing with adobe photoshop elements.
there's a lot of shady deals n scam on ebay cause theres lots of unwary buyers.

I found this seller once and wanted to bid on a few frags and asked the seller if I could pick up them up if I win, the seller said no. The seller wanted to charge me $33 for shipping and $10 box charge from Tarrytown to New Rochelle. I told the seller it would not even cost me $15 to get to the seller from my house and the seller still refused. I never bothered with this seller again...

One thing you guys have to understand. The reason sellers don't allow local pick up and charge high shipping is because Ebay doesn't take a cut of the shipping charges.

Example:

Say you add all his charges and made that the auction price and he offers free shipping. 9.99+33.00+12.00=$55.00 If he lists his auction for $55 then he's got to shell out $4.69 in fees.

By selling the item for $9.99 his Ebay fees are only $0.72

Oh and guess what? If you do end up having a dispute and win, he's only got to refund you $9.99 not $55.00.

If possible, you should avoid sellers with inflated shipping. Although I once won an item for one cent and paid $126.00 shipping. Only because the seller had something like 4,000 positive feedback and no neg.

This is absolutely true. i don't understand why eBay doesn't do anything about this.

sThis is very common in all business, not just on ebay. Many places make more on shipping than selling the actually items, just look at some of those TV ads that run.

As long as the shipping fees are listing there really shouldn't be a problem, you just need to read them before you buy. And ebay does look at every auction to make sure that sellers are paying their fair share of fees.

His combined shipping policy is just plain HORRIBLE! I see venders all the way in california with better shipping policies than that. I feel the guy just wants to make extra money off the shipping which should be illegal. He should send a copy of the receipt on how much he paid, i bet it would be half the actual cost considering those crappy combined shipping fees.

Even when i was new to the hobby as well as ebay I still stayed far away from that vender after reading the shipping policy. Always changing his name to hide the neg feedbacks. Probably when he gets enough neg feedbacks it will change again. I never seen another vender with such grotesque shipping policies and so many neg feedbacks. I mean... $12 additional to combine an auction under 9.99? That sucks. Then he says "if you don't agree to these terms THEN PLEASE DON'T BID!!" How rude can you be?

If thats how he makes a living how come the other vendors do free shipping on large orders and still be in business? He should make an effort to work something out better for local customers.
