I have a hanna checker ph monitor that I'm just not happy with. Right now I'm getting a reading of 9.0 which of course if very high. I'm sure its off. I need to get new calibration solutions. But while I'm at it I want to get a regular test kit to compare it to, can anyone recommend a brand? Is the aquarium pharmacutical test good enough? Anyone have experience with the salifert kit?

Thanks.

Save your money and simply calibrate your monitor. Obtaining the solution can be as simple as going to an LFS that carries them or ordering them online from a vendor such as Reef Exotics (next day ground shipping). This way, you'll accurately know your pH as early as tomorrow.

That's what I was planning to do but since I was making a purchase anyway I figure another $10 for a test kit isn't going to break the budget. At least this way I can verify some of the readings from the probe. I just dont trust the probe even after calibration.
