Hello fellow NYC Reefers. I was hoping for some guidance on what to do with my tank during my move this upcoming month. I've had a Fluval Evo for 1.5 years and have finally reached a point of stability. It's loaded with coral that are all healthy and growing including SPS. After 2 years in my current location the rent has been raised too high for me to continue living here. I am now on the hunt for a new apartment (preferably in north Brooklyn) but rent is pretty damn high right now and the more affordable apartments have a very competitive application process. I fear that I may not be able to find a suitable place by June 1st when my lease ends and may need to live for a few months in a family friends apartment where I would not be able to keep my tank. Would it be possible to board my fish and coral at an LFS until I am able to find a new place and set up a new tank? Perhaps a friendly local reefer maye be able to help? I have 2 clown fish, 1 exquisite firefish, 1 wheelers goby, a fire shrimp, a sexy shrimp, a pistol shrimp, an emerald crab, pom pom crab and multiple trochus, astraea, nassarius and bumblebee snails + a sand sifting star. I have a bunch of coral as well but would be happy if I could at least retain my prized leathers, SPS, euphyllia, favia and blastos. Everything else is up for grabs. Please let me know if you have any suggestions. Also, if I wind up finding a suitable apartment, any guidance on moving an aquarium would be appreciated.

I’d definitely check with your regular LFS first. They may be able to hold the livestock temporarily, and that would probably be much less stressful than trying to move everything twice. Your tank looks really healthy, so I’d hate to see you have to break it down if there’s another option. Hope you find a new place soon!
