Oh, eff me!!! Polarized glasses can help determine which is tempered or not. Assuming you have both. But buy polarized glasses for however much $$$ or tape one of your bills to a side and tape another bill to the bottom glass and view from inside...
You got me Russ. Cost effectiveness still rules though.
Appreciate the HOF help for the sch80 bit. No one has one. Allow me to retort a previous statement and say that I'm wrong as hell. Posts edited. The internet is a big place and a vault of knowledge. You guys gonna drill my external over flow or not?

My prescription Ray Ban's are Polarized. I've already spent many dollars on them, so I get as much use out of them as I can!

If you're wearing polarized glasses while driving, look at the back window of another car. You'll easily see the pattern from the tempering.

Brett, I was sitting here trying to figure out why polarized glasses would be brought up, and I remembered the guys at work who drive the rig saying that they see a pattern on the glass of other cars. A circle, if I remember correctly. So I did a Google search (Deanos would be proud of me) and sure as hell, there are a bunch of links where they say there is a pattern visible through polarized glasses.
Either way, my understanding of tempering is a densing process. So color is a factor, assuming the rest of the tank isn't starphire/all the glass is the same thickness/blah, blah, blah. I'm going to have to check out the polarized thing. Do you think it is a positive test? Brett, have you checked it out on tank glass?
My bad though guys. I'm the idiot here.

Polarized glasses

So I finally cleaned up my tank to order to try the sunglasses trick. I wasn't able to see a difference between the side panel and the bottom one. Which is good sign because according to the theory the bottom pane is not tempered. The conundrum is that this test did not prove that the polarized sunglasses technique works. The question remains to drill or not to drill?

Dude , I have a hard time believing that a 90 gal doesn't have at least the bottom tempered. Now that it's cleaned up, look up under the trim (from inside the tank) to see if there are any labels.

I would get a second opinion on this, you already know folks just like to see vids of guys busting their tanks.

No label. I really do not think it's tempered.
