It depends which resin you get and if they have any current specials going on. You pay quite a bit more for color changing resins--- not worth it IMO. If you tell the rep what you want it for ( reef aquarium) they will give you the options and steer you to the best deal. Also, some resins are stored at their Ohio facility ( the company is in CA.) and shipping from that location will save $$$, so you need to factor that in too when choosing.

Nate I just glanced at the thread, did you read the whole thing?

Are the tests being done or are they still looking for funds?

I think if we can get about 4 guys I would be willing to make the purchase and then split it up at the swap (if I make it, otherwise pickup would be in the manhattan near Bryant Park). To those who are reading this thread and are interested let me know before I post in the group buy section. I just dont want a flood of people who want in.

Right now I have Crox99.
(If you would rather purchase this yourself then LMK)

AquariumWaterTesting.com ended up doing the project for free. They are in the process of setting up the experiment and running the tests right now. Should be interesting.

This sounded odd to me, so I did a little research and AWT is "a division of Global Aquatic Products of Loveland, Colorado." Well, I Googled this parent company and what do I get: http://www.aqua-medic.com and what do they sell among other things?
http://www.aqua-medic.com/reef_salt.shtml

Call me paranoid, but this study will go the way of all the other studies and lead nowhere.

that is very interesting. Someone did mention they were owned by aqua-medic in the thread, I don't think they knew they made salt as well. I don't even think the aqua-medic salt is on the list.
they could be sent some blind samples to test :scratchch
if it varied to much I'd call them on it.

this thread is all over the place haha.

oh wait I just looked, that's the AB salt I had not heard of, hmmm, it's on the list.

They might be fine for sending in your individual samples, but really is it any different than having IO or Red Sea, or Tropic Marin test their competitors products? Even if they are completely aboveboard, in my mind the results will always be tainted by possibility just as the other studies were tainted by poor design, outdated data etc.

In the end, I predict a spike in sales for "the winner" followed by criticism over methodology, rigor or scruples and eventually some issues with the "winner" and ensuing chaos and confusion. The end result as with every other time--- people won't know what to do and will revert to what has always worked for them. Call me jaded, but I've seen this too many times to expect anything else.
