Russ. I already have a 350 W and i think a 450 W inverter. will that work for my stream for 8 hrs? If so then I think I'm going to try the Batt with the tunze and that is going to give me the biggest water movement... even at a low setting. I really shouldn't Spend the $$$ on a UPS right now.

good question that cathy brought up... will my Aqua controll keep it's setting after 8 hrs of being down?

John, your stream should have no trouble running for the full 8 hrs on a fully charged deep cycle marine battery.......IMO

I can't answer about your Aquacontroller though. I'm sure someone else will chime in.

Or you could spend $100 to $200 on a UPS and plug your tunze 6100 into it....

This is what I did but went with the bigger battery, a single Tunze at low speed is 20 watts at best so a medium sized UPS should hit the 8 hours mark easily. The best part is this is automatic, power goes out pump stays running. The aquacontroller power pack reads 200mA so the draw isn't worth worrying about.

Ok ... I'm running a test now.. I have a 400w inverter connected to a booster back. It's been running for 1hr on alt current. I'm just trying to get an idea of whats going to happen.

Absolutely. I was just curious and wanted to get and Idea of how long it would power the pump. It turns out that I was able to power the streams for almost 3 hrs with the single controller still on and alternating between ~30% power and 100%.

I also found out that it's not going to be a continues 8hrs of down time. They are going to be bring the power up and down though out the day.

you can get 2 deep cycle marine battery and connect them parallel to the inverter and you will get twice the time of power or even 3 battery for longer time of power usage

Automatic Transfer Switch

If you use an Auto transfer switch with the deep cycle battery you can automate the switchover.
This model has the inverter built in

I am planning on getting one along with 2 deep cycle batteries (in //) I also have a 6000 watt generator that has to be started manually but this setup will keep me going until I can get home.

Here is an all in one option for $500.00

Ok... So after some testing I found out that my 6100 steam will run for 11hr off of a car battery ( Right out of my dads Jetta w/ a 400w inverter). With that said... I think I'm good.

guys, Thank you for all the advise. I would have had no clue what to do without u guys.
