MaxiJet1200 noisy

Hi all!

I have a MaxiJet 1200 on my AquaC remora skimmer, it was performing flawlessly up to this moment. The powerhead started to produce humming noise, I tried to clean it thoroughly but that didn't help.

Any ideas what could be wrong?

run it in vinegar for a day, mine did the same thing, then i ran it in vinegar and poof all better. they start to get build up on the rubber tips and shaft and regular cleaning wont do it

Somehow the impeller on 12's do that when they get scratched or back pressure occurs...

how do you get the vinegar out of a powerhead after the "treatment" or the vinegar is not harmfull for the inhabitants?

is it still safe to run the powerhead in the tank or better to take it out?

All it's going to is make noise...it doesn't get hot enough under water to burn, unless it starts running dry then you are at a higher risk of melt down...

ok, thanks for the replies i've found the problems and it's not the Jet ) it was just a resonance issue :spin:
