Im looking to enhance my Coralife Super skimmmer, any suggestions?

I currently have a coralife 125 skimmer for my 110 reef (plan on tank upgrade in a few months) , and would like to enhance its capability. I was contimplating upgrading the pump. Would this help its functioning. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Or should I just stop being cheap and invest in a more credible skimmer

I have the stock pump, which I believe is a rio

I was reading somewhere online about wrapping fishing line around the needle wheel produces a finer bubble, and a more efficient skim. There was also a mention of attaching a screen to it but this could supposedly be damaging

I know im being cheap, but my girl friend is starting to think I have a serious addiction and planning an intervention :biggrin:. So Im gonna have to skimp on this one for know and attempt one of the mods. Thanks all

Thanks to "NYreefNOOB" ive been researching the recirculation mod and a few aspects of it I really like.

1) Obviously increased skimming due to more finer bubble prodution
2) Creating a line directly from the drain to the skimmer, so the skimmer water doesnt get reskimmer and all the water in the display tank is skimmed before re-entering the display tank.

Has anyone done this successfully?

dont think that will work with that skimmer, if your reffering to having the drain, drain straight into the skimmer

I know "Spykes" did a Recirc mod & pump upgrade, a while back.

Looks like it kicked @ss

Coralife Super Skimmer CS220 w OR2700 NW. This skimmer now is handling 15LPM intake and the Skimmer performs like a champ.
