Guess it depends what type of water testing he is hoping for. If he is asking fort the basics than I agree, definitely a hobby that requires plenty of hands on. I know that I started out with only the basics and have slowly built my testing kit collection with things like Magnesium, which I still never even tested for. I also still don't own a TDS meter so my bottled water could be crap. So I still sometimes need help with testing.

let argue the other side... i test a lot, ph. Mg, Alk, Calc, Nitrates, and i see i get different results depending on test kits. i've taken my water to some places and they say my nitrates, for example, are much lower than i get, which is usually about 10 (at the store, they told me it was almost at 0). I did this b/c i bought a sailfret test kit from someone here, and when i tested the nitrates, it was off the charts (around 80 ppm), so i rushed to the store to check it out.

It would be great to test my water w/ someone that has the high end testers to see how accurate my readings are. Therefore, i would really benefit from this.

Salifert kits are pretty good. They're not as good as a LaMotte, but they work.

I think the phosphate test would be great. However, someone will have to get the reagants and the meter, then take the time to test the water. I think it's a great idea if someone wants to do it.

Any volunteers?

I wasnt talking basics, PH, ALK, Cal, Nitrate, Nitrite, amonia.
I meant the other stuff loike phosphate, or things similiar to that.
Also, Someone else made the point I wanted to, to check to see if my tests are acurate.
I also want to buy some new testing kits.
Will there be gd kits for sale???

Salifert is having some serious issues now. Its been going on for the better part of this year. I wouldn't recommend buying any of their new test kits until they get their stuff worked out. Luckily, I have some old test kits but will need to find another reliable brand when I get new ones.

Don't take my word for it, look at the numerous post in their forum.

And unfortunately, Habib has been ghost. You guys should spread the word so people don't have serious tank issues. BTW, its not only the alk kits also.
