Phosphorus and liverock

Will running Phosban eventually remove all the phosphorus from live rock. ( I am guessing the rock is impregnated with it) I have been running phosban and Rowa for 6 months now and never seem to get the readings down near zero. My readings on a Hanna meter usually vary between .15 and .26. But never lower. Is it time to change the rock?

How large is your tank, whats in it and what quantities of food are you feeding. What is your nitrate reading

You're probably adding phosphate via food, top-off water or water change water.

100 Gallon tank. Yes i use RO-Di water. Nitrates 0. I do feed flake foods and frozen foods mainly mysis. The frozen I defrost then evaporate the water off before feeding. Do flake foods have high Phosphates?

Timber i feed about a block a day to 8 fish. I would think that the phosguard should be able to keep this in check right?

no E phosphates is the correct word

fishywoo it sounds like you are adding more po4 that way, keep up with water changes and the GFO's

really with the frozen foods you need to rinse it off with ro water, letting the water absorb into a napkin does rinse the food off. also how good is your skimmer ?

Try to feed pellets to your fish that will keep phosphates down... But if you have no choice then rinse in ro water...

Okay I think i found the prob. I slowed the flow down through the reactor. At 4pm I did a 15% water change and changed the flow. Checking with a hanna I had a reading of .28 Now some 4 hours later the reading has fallen to .11. I am going to keep tabs on it and see if it keeps falling. I'll try rinsing the cubes in the future as obviously there are some Phosphates getting in. Neeb my skimmer is a Deltec apf 600.
