Hello all:

I have been reef keeping for over 7 years and have recently set up a second tank after deciding to do something smaller.
The tank I chose was a BioCube 14. The Biocube comes with 48w of PC lighting made up of 1 10k and 1 actinic. I have access to a free upgraded hood that would bring me up to 72w.
While deciding what bulbs to run I realized that I knew very little about PC bulbs as I ran MHs and VHOs on my main tank.
My questions is related to color temp and par. With so little light being pumped out by the PCs I really want to maximize par.
So...... Does anyone know the correlation between temp and par?
Of the available bulbs, 10k, 6,700 and Actinic which gives the most bang for the buck, par wise.
I have always assumed that Actinics were more for looks, pleasing to the eye, causing fluorescing of coral etc. but I really have nothing to back up this belief.
My intention is to select my bulbs (will have 3 24w PCs)
based on par, maximizing the useable lumens.
Has anyone ever run across any studies that would help or have any first hand knowledge or opinions.

Thanks for your help with this.
