In the last two monts I lost every single hermit crab in my tank for no reason so I bought 2 weeks 100 blue hermits and as of today they are all gone. Any idea why?

how old is the tank , maye you got a hitch hicker (octopus) that eats hermit crabs . Get a red light and check your tank when all the lights are out and I mean all the lights even from other rooms

JP, it is possible that the lubbock could eat crabs & other ornamental crustaceans. But very unlikely that it is eating 100 of them. I don't even know what took mine out. Especially since thank God, what ever it is that has gotten my hermits has not gone after my shrimps.

So are you as neuratic as I can be? I've been known to take my tank apart to find something.LOL Oh yeah, once I emptied out my pond in search of my disapearing catfish, and I mean emptied it totally even the water...LOL

I am not going to take the tank apart unless I know the culprit. I don't think it's my water because I use the same water on my 3g and I have 5 hermits and they are still alive. Also I lost recently all of my small fishes (Female lyretail anthias, smaller Lubbock's and a cleaner wrasse).

What are your tank parameters? Inverts are very sensitive to tank changes, especially ammonia and salinity.
Is anything else missing from your tank? If shrimp are gone, other crabs are gone, you may have a mantis that only comes out when you're asleep. They really are good sensors of movement.
Do you have any especially large fish? They could be picking at anything that moves.
Do you have enough larger shells for the hermits to molt into? If they don't have another shell to move into when they molt they will probably die.
