Anyone not using any phosphate removing in their reef setup? Curious to know if its possible to have a successful reef tank using just water change, protein skimming and monitoring water quality.
all i am running on my tank is carbon and it is skimmerless (i bet there is going to be complaints on this forum now) but yea my tank is doing amazing ill post pics a little bit later if you want to see how good of a tank you can run on jsut carbon and water changes
right now i do 2 gallon water changes once a week and change the carbon every two weeks. and i have ricordia, zoos, a jenya tree and mushrooms and a condy anemone although that isnt a coral. but i dont keep any sps because i dont have the lights for i have pc's:tired: but hopefully i will get new ones for christmas  so if you want to see any pics just ask.
I have a 24g Nano and I dont use phosban or anything like it. I tested PO4 and its trace amounts that are present. I havent noticed any ill effects after months.
