I just replaced my 250W SE XM 10K, which is on a Icecap ballast. As soon as I fired it up, I noticed it was very green. After about 30 hours of burn time it is still green. When I open the hood and the bulb is vertical, the color changes to what an XM 10K should look like but after the bulb is in the normal horizontal position, the color goes green again after about a minute. I tried the old bulb and it looks normal so I think that rules out a ballast issue. :headache:

I assume this is a defective bulb; but has anyone had this problem?

Oh no! I just orderd these from Dr F&S, they haven't arrived yet though ... It sounds like they're deffective. From what I heard, they're supposed to give a yellow'ish cast that looks just like the sun at noon time....:headache:

It could be the way the nipple on the bulb is faced. See how the nipple is positioned on the bulb when it has the color you want, and then try to see if you can get the nipple to be in the same position. I know I read this makes a difference somewhere, i'm just not sure where.
