I recently noticed two of these things growing on my live rock in my fallow tank (I am currently quarantining my only fish, a green-spotted puffer). They're a creamy-yellowish (not very attractive-looking) and they flutter easily with the current. I've been keeping an eye on them but they've only grown a little bit. They are now about .25 inches tall.
I turned on the tank light this morning and notice that the "head" had stretched out like a furry thin worm and was floating in the current. It was about 4 to 5 inches long. As soon as the light came on, they both retracted their "heads" very quickly and soon enough, they were .25 inches tall again. It all happened so fast I couldn't get a very long look, but it freaked me out.
WHAT ARE THESE THINGS?!
