pyramid snails

i found these guys under the mantle of my crocea clam, i've read that they feed on clams.......is it true? if so, how do you eradicate them.....they are really tiny and hard to get to.... any known predators for them? i have 2 croceas but i only found them on the larger 1.......i know if there on 1, only a matter of time before they get to the other 1.

Do a search on Manhattan Reefs for all the info you need on pyramid snails. I'm surprised the resource you read about them eating clams didn't provide additional info.

that is what is confusing......i read 1 thread that said they r part of a mature system and why mess with them and another thread that said they were bad...plus it was on the list of pests yesterday at the swap

While they may become part of a mature system, I personally see no reason to allow them to remain :skull: I can't think of one benefit they provide other than killing clams and/or snails. Several wrasses are purported to feast on pyramid snails, but their (snails) nocturnal behavior prevents many wrasses from getting the chance to eat them

If the clams are mobile, then take them out and pick off as many pyramids as you can. Next add a wrasse that you will enjoy and that they are known pyramid hunters.

I would pluck any that you see off with a pair of tweezers. I find them from time to time on some of my zoanthid colonies, and when I do the polyps tend to be closed up, so I remove the snails.

Sand or in the rocks.
Take a peek when the lights are out. If you found a few, you'll be suprised to see how many come out at night.
