Thought i'd share this, but i initially set up a pristine tank with all base rock and new sand, nothing live, and all my readings where zero.
I got livestock from the frag swap including fish, and my tank turned into a swamp with lots of cyano.
I then read somewhere that if i raise my magnesium, this would solve my problems. I tested it with salifert, and it came back as 1300 using standard oceanic salt @ 1.025 gravity.
I added mag chloride, to somewhere about 1500 over two days and all my cyano is gone. Go figure.
I have crazy flow in my tank with two vortecs, two 1 inch sea swirls running on a sequence dart. I've read everywhere that flow is an issue, however that was not my case, and the mag really help.
Just passing this along to those who suffer from cyano.
PS: i got a bucket of mag cloride if anyone needs.
