substrate for reef

What is good choice for substrate for a reef tank, terms of handling strong current and less likely to clog intakes and sticking to glass?

fine grain is not good at handling current, it is however VERY good at blowing all to one side.

For your purposes it sounds like bare bottom is best for you. Perhaps you can place some sand in a refugium?

Sand medium grain is good. No Crushed coral it is a nitrate factory and a detrius trap but I am sure someone will disagree with me on that as well.
