Your opinion on UV lights?

My UV light broke last night, and I was wondering what peoples opinions on UV lights were. Are they beneficial or useless? Thanks!

I say mostly useless unless your adding new things to your system all the time... But not totally useless...

This is one of those iffy subjects.Some people say they are beneficial while others will say they are useless.I've been to so many aquariums and every single one had one.Just remember that Coral dips and proper QT of new fish additions always help in preventing harmful parasites and diseases from entering your tank.

i use one, if you run a high flow it works more as a clarifier, lower flow through it works to kill off bacteria ect, and i use one

Makes water a little clearer, worthless in controlling ich and friends
