HOLY CRAP!!!! A couple of months ago i put baby sally light foot crabs and i also hear clicking noises. I keep hearing those click noises when i had them. It only stopped when the crabs were all gone. I thought m tank was cracking! How did you find this mantis? Was the lights off or on?

if you can find the rock it's in and pull it out, you can get him out.

Get a 2 liter bottle or 2 of seltzer. Not tonic, not club soda.

do a water change, and keep the old water.

find the mantis rock, and pull it out. Hold it over an empty tub, and dump the seltzer on. Swish it around the rock, and watch the mantis pop out. sometimes it takes a little, sometime it takes a lot.

Once the mantis is out, swish the rock in the old tank water, and put the rock back in the tank.

take the mantis out and put in a container with some old salt water.

good luck

I don't know which rock he's in cause i never saw him. Only heard clicking noises. This clicking noise only happenned when i put some baby sally light foot crabs in. After they were gone i never heard that clicking noise again. I only realized this when reading on MR and people catch mantis shrimps after they heard "clicking noises". So this is just an assumption but this is TOO much of a coincidence. This was after 6+ months after i set my tank up i added these crabs too. Before that i never heard the clicking noise. It would be hell for me to look for him cause i have so much LR. If there was a way to bait him that would help alot.

Damn, good luck in catching that thing. After you catch it and don't want to keep it, you can just eat it. Alot of asians eat it. You know hes been eating good. Put some garlic and butter and call it a meal. Gone fishing.

Not only asians but also Italians eat them. They are very good but a PITA to eat them.

Just came back from a trip to HK and boy those Mantis Shrimps are delicious!
It's actually very easy to peel off the shells, the trick is the peel from the side :)
