170 gallon tenacore aquarium "marine ready"

I just picked up this aquarium and after getting it going the
overflow drains are noisy. How can i get rid of this toilet
flushing noise. I tried putting air lines down the drains but it
didn't work. Any suggestions. thanks.

Pat, double check if there is a bend or kink in the drain hoses - if you're using the pool hose look-alikes, they tend to bend oddly and cause the flushing effect.

I'll like to get one too but I don't have a valve in the intake so if I remove the standpipe to replace it with the durso, will All my water will flush into the sump?

I'm going to try the stand pipe and by the way the drain hoses are 1"
and are not kinked. can it be the 90 degree fitting at the bottom of
both drains. thanks.
