How much can you tip an empty tank?

I just realized that if I ever get around to upgrading, a 6 foot tank will not fit in my elevator. Can empty tanks be tipped up on end without splitting the seams? How much can they be tipped?

They are fine on end for a short period of time - I wouldn't store one this way or sit on top of it if YOU don't fit in the elevator. :scratchch
