Hello everyone. I've been thinking of removing the dsb I have in 1 of the chambers in my sump (it's southdown). I just rather have chaeto & lr in there. Do you think I can add this to the existing dsb in the main tank? Will I get a significant cycle if any? Any other problems I might encounter? Thanks --Rob--

how old is the dsb in the sump? I just removed my year old dsb from my sump, and other than a half inch at the top is was perfectly good clean sand. I was really surprised how clean it was, 0 smell also.

Both dsb's (sump & Main) are "at least" 8+ yrs old. I've had no ill effects from it. The dsb in the sump was looking a little raggedy (has been neglected a bit) but is in perfectly good shape from what I can see. I just thought it would look better bb, w lr & chaeto. But if it's going to cause problems transferring it, I'd just as well let it be.
I never considered mud. It would be the same as the dsb I would think. I would like to keep all the critters I have in the sump's dsb and add them to the main tank if possible.
