I am considering buying the 6stage 110 gpd RO/Di system from WaterGeneral Manufacturing on ebay for $99.-. I would attach it to the kitchen faucet and use it for my 40GL tank.

Does anyone have this sytem? If so, what's your experience?

Btw, I used the DI tap water filter from Aquarium Pharmaceuticals until now. Has anyone used this and then switched to RO/DI and experienced a good improvement? Thanks.

I'm using it right now and it works very well. I use a TDS meter and I got 0 for quite some time filling up a 55 gallon barrell for my top off water. It is probably close to 6-7 months after I first purchased it and I am getting 17 on the TDS meter and this is after about 300-400 gallons of top off water used. I can't compare it to others like Spectrapure/coralife etc. or any other company but I do know that there are less than a handfull of companies that make the filters for rodi systems and there is not much difference between them. You could slap a specrapure label and add built on TDS meter on the General and you wouldn't know the difference. The TDS meter does not lie.

The kit comes with everything you need. just call the guy up and tell him how you intend to connect it.

I have had mine for about 8 months and my tds meter still reads zero. I have run about 300 gallons of water through it. I really like it. Does a great job!

...

Also the connectors are not John guest fittings(quick connectors)...

The type of connector included is reported to have leaking problems after a while.

I've had mine well over a year....WOULD NOT TRADE IT FOR THE WORLD!
No leaks- can turn the DI up vertical if you want to ( but since it's packed
well there is no need).
Mine sits on the counter with the faucet adapter- never had a problem.
0 TDS -Only had to change the first stage filter twice and the charcoal once in all that time.
And I make at least 20 gallons a week.
Why pay more- easy to get replacement parts- good customer service.

thanks everyone; good: there are 3 of you who really like it...
reefman, why is it bad that the DI canister is vertical (less efficient, not using gravity?)
Drperetz, in terms of the connectors I guess in the worst case I should be able to get them extra?
Thanks Nasone, am curious how yours will work once set up...

I just bought one from bikinisalt this past Saturday.
Installed it on Saturday and so far so good. I'm getting zero TDS read out but i'm addin the vertical Di attachment anyway. Also adding a UV to the drinking output.

I've had no leaks at all. The TDS meter does not lie. If your getting 0 then the Di canasters are working fine. Surely not worth the added price tag of a horizontal one. Just my opinion.

Honda or Hyndai. You choose.
