The gist of it is:
He took rare protected atlantic corals for his personal profit and use while misleading the NOAA/government...
I don't know if this caused senior RC members to leave RC... maybe not.. can't figure that one out...

That was something different that wasn't brought up until after. There was apparently a big blowout with Bomber & the rest of the staff that prompted them to leave. Money might have had something to do with it too (MD forums pay IIRC)

Ahhh.. ok...
I find myself on reefs.org lots these days...
Joe, have other good boards to visit?

I find myself on uberfrags.net often enough. They are kind of centered around the Chicago area and there are a lot of real nice and well mannered folks.

I also like Zeovit.com and they talk about much more than Zeovit. A lot of int'l representation there.

I've been to zeovit.com... at times I'm game for converting, but then I think about the extra maintenance for me... and I don't convert :)

I'll check out uberfrags.net

I read through most of what was supplied on that page. Based on the article Eric wrote, it appears that he was using dedicated space at Reef Savers for his project. (Perhaps he rented the space?) I could easily see how this could be the case, afterall, most universities do not have 5000 gallon systems at the ready...

ahhh..screw all these big headed senior guys...we're all just hobbiest, personally i get really annoyed when some people reference/sell names such as "limited edition Tyree.." and then jack up the price just for that..give me a break.

In this hobby i feel there are just too many big heads and people that take themselves waaayy too seriously

I just hang out on RDO, either the Collector's or Industry. I've been lurking a little on BAR too (Bay Area Reefers) but haven't registered. The Can. forum Aquarium Pros has some sweet pictures from some of the vendors, worth registering for.

Hey Jake! I didn't know you were on this forum too! Cool. :)

Re, the thread topic... the RC fall out and CHDC fiasco have pretty much nothing to do with each other. The RC thing had to do with a conflict between Bomber (Jerel from Flordia) and EB. As for the CHDC thing, to understand what all happened, you really should read the documents (and/or read the reefs.org thread).

Yeah, but the problem is that the CDHC thought they were going to a "research facility." Obviously, they were a bit irked when they found out they had gone to a commercial wholesaler's warehouse where Indo pacifics were also constantly coming and going. Among other reasons, corals from different parts of the world need to be kept in different, separated rooms when you're doing research (and especially if there's any plan to ever return propagated coral back to the wild). This is what Mote Marine and other actual research facilities have to do. The space was not rented either. RS apparently did this out of the goodness of their hearts... or possibly upon the promise/anticipation of funding from somewhere (I don't know for sure, the documents don't say specifically-- though there is mention of when Eric proposed possible future sale of frags to researchers).
