Return pump Help!!!!!!

As you may know the AGA megaflow overflow is rated at 600gph so I got a quiet one 400 at 1025gph.It may be too much and it may explain why it makes this horrible motor shaking noise every once in a while or maybe it just sucks.Only back up is the 400 high head which is rated at 900gph,should I go smaller or get a Eheim 1260 or 1262 or smaller?Any help would be great.:irked:

is the noise from not having enough water to pump? r u restricting your flow to the sump, cause i have the same AGA megaflow overflow and my return pump is a quietone 6000.
but i have no problems.

Check the impeller on the pump if you can. My friend went through 2 or 3 new Quiet Ones before getting one with a non-broken impeller shaft. Usually its the shaft hitting the housing.

That's why I'm going to get another brand.I'm using a valve to restrict the flow on the intake side only.

I would restrict the output not the intake.

Yes.Probably damaged,gotta take it out before it fails.How's the mag 9.5?No barb fittings though.Anyone have one with fittings?

I run a quiet one pump without any problems except for the occasional lockup of the impeller from calcium buildup. Maybe you just got a bad one. I would just try to return it and get another. Make sure the impeller is on straight.

As for the mag pumps you could always get a barb fitting that screws into the pump. My experience with them is that they run hot and consumes alot of electricity.

Eheim pumps gets my vote for best return pump. I've also heard good things about Ocean Runner pumps but I've never used one.

I use mag pumps to mix and heat saltwater.
