A couple of friends of mine are planning on opening a new store in the city, problem is we all live out on the Island. As such we don't have hands on local knowledge.

We're seeking some local input on where the largest void or good location may be with good access etc.

There are too many significant players in Nassau and Suffolk.

We feel with the population density of the city it would be a better gamble

I'll tell you where

the most need is: the park slop, carrol gardens, fort green area (which also included neighborhoods like brooklyn heights, clinton hill, borum hill, red hook, dumbo, williamsburg, and greenpoint. In this entire area (i would estimate 10 mile radious), there is nothing for a while. You have to drive at least 20 - 30 minutes (often through high traffic areas) to get to a store. There's stores way south (bay ridge area) to the west (the island) and to the north (in upper queens)...nothing to the east (NY harbor).

And there are tons of reefers over here. I'm in clinton hill, and i new of several here.

Problem is rent. but here are some possibilties: fulton street east of washington...quickly developing, and still cheap, and Myrtle, east of say washington as well, or maybe a little more, say grand. You can also try the bedstey area....west bed stuy, closer to clinto hill, like bedford or norstrand avenues.

Hope that helps

I agree completely. This is also one of the wealthiest areas of Brooklyn with a high concentration of people with disposable income.

Brooklyn needs a good store besides UCreations and Queens has alot. I have been to many stores in Brooklyn they either dont care, have dead fish, trying to sell a Blue Hippo with Lateral Line for 60 bucks, or over charge on items.

There is a store front for rent I beleive across the street from my house in Bay Ridge. You should move there, that would be awesome.

Anywhere in Brooklyn. Well thats where the void for a GOOD store is. As far as where an economically good area is, well that you'd have to see where the money is.

We need a good one in the BX, by me would be great(Throgs Neck). I will be there everyday. There are no stores that cater to reef/saltwater hobby in the Bx. If I am wrong, someone please let me know. I would love to know where they are...

Damn if I was still living in TN I would agree with Bikini but I moved to Bay Ridge unfortunatly and we got nothing so I am going to be selfish. Just to get to Alex at Aquatic Creations I have to outfit my car with rockets and RPGs just to hit the BQE. The only good store in Throggs Neck was Bruckner Petland but unfortunatly ever since the block caught fire they havnt been able to recoup. In fact that whole corner is useless now besides the bar there.

Besides Bikini, all you have to do is hit Shore Road and your at NY Aquatics in no time. Maybe stop at Turtle Cove and play some putt-putt.

You know John. They are still here, but cater now to dogs and cats. Also do you remember Bobby in City Island?

Yeah I know John. Good guy shame what happened to that corner. I know they are still there but I remember when their store was twice the size and they were next to Bruckner Hobbies which was like heaven when I was at Benedicts. I bought my first salt setup from them. Was never at Bobbies thought. Never went to that store.
