Sump Advice

My old sump broke so I'm planning a new one. The last one was 10g (too small) and had no baffles (too many microbubbles).

Any suggestions for:

a) glass or acrylic?
b) gallons of water? (tank is a 40Br)

I was using an external pump, but it was really loud. Since I have a studio apartment, quiet is totally necessary. I'm thinking maybe about going back to an internal pump, but I want one strong enough to return and run my chiller. Suggestions?

how much room do you have underneath tank ? what skimmer ect, you knew we was going to ask. i just ordered the gen-x pumps from hof one is around 700gph and the other is 1100 going to use the 1100 i think for return and pipe it off and run my chiller and phos reactor off of it also

Standard AGA stand. I have an AquaC Ev skimmer. Pics of the sump can be seen on my tank thread.

if a 20g long will fit you could use it and have a glass shop cut baffles for it, gonna be about the cheapest cost wise

get an ehiem 1262 if noise is an issue. its more quiet than a mouse.
with sumps, the bigger the better.
