I'm actually leaning toward the dark blue background right. I'm gonna pass on the painting though but u never know. i might change my mind on that also. Since i have a 60G FOWLR with 35lbs of live rock, nothing seems to be standing out much yet except. I might as well add more rockwork to my setup also. i figured the background would make a huge difference with the actinics on.

I like a black background.

There is an online retailer that sells adhesive aquarium backgrounds. This helps to prevent the salt creep marks-- its definitely a lot easier than painting and in case you ever change your mind, it's easily removable so you're not stuck with it. I'll see if I can find the website.

On my old tank I used the BLACK Oceanvisions stickon background. I then used aquarium sealant on the top.,bottom & sides to prevent salt creep & peeling. The colors on the clowns & yellow tang especially popped right out at you. Now I have one of those old fashioned backgrounds w/fish & corals on the back. BAD choice but it was all I had & I had to get my tank up fast. I eventually will be going back to a self stick BLACK background when I find the time.

I picked up a double sided, fading blue on one side, black on the other. I put it on the blue side since my tank is new, but once it gets established, I'll prolly go black. Can't beat it for $6

We like to use the same pressure sensitive vinyl that is used in commercial signage.
a bit tricky to install, but has a life of up to 15 years if installed properly.
comes in any color of the rainbow as well.
