Dane..... I alwasy check a few websites(ie. vividaquarium.com, liveaquaria.com,NYaquatic.com, etc) for info about fish/corals/inverts.
If you look at enough sites...you will get the important info you need about the specific species(there are other ways to get info, but this is the easiest, make sure the info is repeated across the board,on all sites, to ensure its accuracy).
HOWEVER....after checking these sites, I see nothing about coral banded being aggresive with fish...I guess im wrong.... but, its still gd advice.
Coral banded, mantis(not really a shrimp),and pistol are all shrimp to be wary of when you buy,and harlequins if you like your stars. But the rest are pretty much safe buys and desirable.(especially SS cleaners, I love those little guys......-_-)
IMO they don't bother much of anything..especially is you keep them well fed. Mine doesn't even bother with the hermits or snails..and he's the only shrimp in the tank (my 33g cube).
I've had mine for a about a year and he hangs out behind the rocks most of the day...unless I put food in the tank and he's always out all night picking at the rocks. If a fish swims by him, he'll reach out but has never so much as plucked a scale off of one !
I vote it out! Mine was always on the hunt for my small fish especially at night when the fish were sleeping. Needless to say that that was only 1, I never got another after that experience. Perhaps I just had a real Bandit.
I'm not so much worried about the clowns as they sleep on the top of the tank, but when I begin getting some other fish who might sleep on the bottom or in the rocks, wouldn't that make them a prime target?
Coral banded shrimp can be downright nasty, especially when hungry or when they get on the large side... Generally they are not considered good neighbors. They will also tear open corals, anemones and even clams to get at food...
