does anyone else have this? If so, do you guys also have an air pocket that forms after a while, so that on a weekly basis or so the air needs to be sucked out. I heard that over overflow boxes with U-tubes or with a pump would be better. Does anyone have experience with both and can compare? Thanks.

I've used overflow boxes with the u tube and they work fine. If you have a lot of micro bubbles in the tank, you may need to occasionally suck out some air, but I never had to.

Not sure about this particular overflow, but I have a aqualifter on my overflow and it's been great since. Before the aqualifter I had an airtube attached to a powerhead that drew out the airbubbles, but was unreliable.

Thanks Rob, the LifeReef looks good. Stupid question: they seem to come with a 1" output for a 1# hose. My wet dry trickle has a 1 1/4" input. Do you by any chance know if I can get a connection/adaptor easiby so I can continue to use the 1 1/4" hose? Also, is it true that the return line hose has to be thinner than the hose from the overflow to the sump? Thank you!

Hi Newfishie, I have my particular setup hard plumbed with 1" pvc pipe, so I did replace the hose adaptor that came with the lifereef with a threaded x slip adaptor http://www.savko.com/PartList.asp?pgid=3&ptid=14&pid=107. I checked for what you need on savko but didn't see it. Maybe try a plumbing supply store.

I've never heard this but that doesn' mean it isn't true. Maybe someone else can comment.
