Calcium Reactor Problem

I am in the process of setting up a MTC Mini-Cal reactor. After it runs for a little while, the pump is unable to draw water from the sump and the reactor begins to run dry. I checked online and it is suggested to attach and run a pump to the reactor from the sump. I have a extra rio 800 to use and am unsure how to reduce the outlet from the rio pump to attach to the 1/4 inch od tube. Thanks.
