I have about 250lbs of live rock that I will be using in my current 210gal tank build. I got the rock used and unfortuneatly it is covered in hair algae and other undesireables. So I want to completely "nuke" the rock. That is I want to remove anything and everything on the rock and start from scratch. Does anyone know how I would go about this? I have heard that you can soak the rock in a solution with bleach and then dry it out, is this correct? I don't want to ruin the rock. Any info would be a huge help.

I have about 150lbs of once live rock that I am storing for a future tank. I let the rock completely dry out in the sun for about a month. I brought all the rock to a marina and laid it out all over the dock (people though I was nuts) and power washed every rock thoroughly. My rocks were pretty large though. Smaller would have shot all over the place.
Before I use this rock in a tank I will "cook" in a bin with a skimmer and phosban as a precaution. IMO no matter how well you clean the rock there is still tiny crevices that can hold wastes.
