I came home tonight to find the lights off on my tank. Check the RK2 and see the temp reading at 94.2. Quickly feel the tank and the water is cold... that's right cold. The temp probe somehow started spiking so the heater wasn't turning on and the temp dropped down to 70 in the tank. Has this happened to anyone else?

I ordered a new temp probe tonight and have the heater running on it's own thermostat for the time being. Probe is about 1.5 yrs old. It just seems like such a basic thing with all the other technology in the tank to fail. Good thing I wasn't on vacation.

Okay now I'm going to have to put a years, hours, minutes timer on my signature or thing under my post... Thanks for the heads up... It's only been 2 months since I've had my rk2... Maybe House of fish can let us know about the probes... They sold me mines and I love it...

mines been going about 18 months no probs. This might be a silly question, but you made sure it's not touching a heater or pump?

I had the temp probe tie wrapped around the PH probe which is how it's been since I started the tank. I seperated the temp probe just to see and tried cleaning off the probe side and cleaning the contacts on the other side. Still no good, even at 95 degrees it'll keep fluctuating all over the place. It'll go from 95 to 92 then 93.5 then 91 yadda yadda... all over the place.
