I wanted to get people's opinions on the stand I am currently building. The stand is going to be for a 210 Gallon tank (72" long x 24" wide x 30" tall). The stand I have currently is 27" tall so in order for me to look at the tank I have to bend over. I want the tank to be right in your vision so that you never have to bend to look at it. That said, I am currently building a stand that is 42" overall. This puts the top of the tank at 6' tall with the viewable part of the tank stopping at 5'10" tall. Have I gone a little to far and made this too high?? I feel like its tall but not too tall, I would like to hear how everyone else feels

sound like a god standing hight. personally I would consider making it taller. 30" is including the plastic rim of the tank. But then again I'm 6 feet tall.

i think your tank is gonna look great at that height!I bought a 240g tank and stand to put in my dining room.the stand was only 24 inches high.you could only see half the tank over my dining room chairs.i built a base to put it on out of 2x12's and 1x 12 red oak.the stand is now 36 " high.it looks 100 times better after i raised it.i was just thinking that i should have made it a little higher the other day.the only drawback is its a ***** to clean the tank(i use a step stool) but IMO its well worth it.

I never had the space but always wanted one.

I used to keep Redtail Catfish & Tiger Shovelnoses but always had to give them away. They're monsters!

I was gonna say the extra height is great, so you can have options with protein skimmers, but not sure if thats a fact for a FW, but probably still good for a nice BAD A#$ Canister filter

this is gunna be a reef, not a fw, the guy who commented before put up pics of his fw setup. The skimmer was a factor in the hight, I will be using a skimmer that is 36" tall so that alone plus the 2x4s that make up the frame of the base would be 39" tall and then I gave myself some room to move it around. So it came out to 42" overall. I just wanted opinions on the aesthetic look of the tank up that high.

One of the tanks I "have" I had a custom stand made that was44" tall. The tank is 84x24x30. Doesn't seem tall at all.
The room under the aquarium is sweet not only was I able to fit a tall skimmer but I even fit a chiller on a shelf inside.
The only pain is getting on a ladder to clean it.
