any input on nano koralias. how are they do they work well.... i just need a something lil extra for my 30 cube was thinking about buying 2 of these...
not true, or atleast for my tanks so far. i had almost 30 different sps in my 24g ap with a koraline nano a rio 600 with a hydroflo and about 400gph on return with a seaswirl, and had great success
I have 1 #3 for my entire tank. And the only dead, but still not so dead, spot is right under the korolia.
Maybe 2 #2's, i heard the nanos dont pack much of a punch and since you're all SPS I'm sure you could configure it in such a way that would make it work for you.
it isnt the amount of flow but the randomess of it, reefkeeper mag has something on this in this months issues. and as for color and growth, excellent growth and color not bad, but flow has nothing to do with color
I have one koralia 1, koralia nano and two aquaclear 301's in my 15 gallon nano and the flow still isn't what I want. I may go for just a K1 and K2. I have mainly tubastrea and dendrophyllia.
Tony, I think you'll want more.
Mine is the 33g and I have a K1, K2 and a maxi jet 400 w/ a hydor rotator on it. Also running a 3/4" seawirl off a Mag 5..still not enough even for me with my rics in this tank.
I'm taking the K1 & Maxi jet out this weekend and adding a K3 instead.
The Koralia Nano's have a nice gentle flow for keeping things moving behind the rocks in a tank that deep, but not much more than that..imo
T, seen a good article somewhere ( :arg: i forgot where sigh) about flow and sps, where low flow in the tank with good circlulation between tank ->sump/filtration was just as good as a SPS tornado flow in your tank combined with quick flow through rate in the sump/filtration area due to added pump power between the two. Thats pretty much what people run for their SPS dominated tanks. High flow in tank, high pump for return and an oversized skimmer for waste removal because the water flows through so quick.
Elos systems and alot of the newer euro ways of tank setups are based on the low flow system. Compared to the american old style of horsepower of the skimmer systems people run now which are "the bigger skimmer the better and flow that could peel your face off". People get the hang time for the skimmer to clean the water currently in the sump area instead of cleaning a little bit of the water going through at a time. Getting the circulation up in the tank without creating a huge amount of flow in it (half as much as what people would normally give sps or lower) but have the water circulating in the tank enough to give the tank cleaner water. Balancing the water circulation between sump/main display with moderate/high skimming.
Pretty much creating an inline filtration instead of the branch off of filtration that people use now, sorta like a canister type. I dunno if that made sense. Getting more cleaning done for the water passing through than a little at a time but it gets done eventually.
Anyways sorry to sidetrack, thought it was interesting and thought i should share. What works works and keep using it but always interesting to read new ways to skin a cat 0.o
