My tank was LOADED with small brittle stars and bristle worms. Well, now there is none that I can see. Out of curiosity, I wanted to see who you all thought the culprit would be. Since the mass disappearance happened recently, I am going to keep the options to new additions to the system only. I'm a witness to an attack by one of the species below but I'll keep that to myself for now.

Here are the suspects:

  1. Alligator Pipefish
  2. Wartskin Angler
  3. 2 Reidi Seahorses
  4. 3 Prickly Leather Jackets
  5. 1 Red Tail Filefish
  6. 4 Arrow Crabs (None left. The Octopus ate them)
  7. Golden Angel
HINT: The answer may not be as obvious as you may think :scratchch

Arrow Crab will take the bristle worm and rip it apart but if they are now gone... No evidence...
Maybe the octopus paid the arrow crab to get rid of the bristle gang
and then the octopus got rid of the arrow crab and got rid of any evidence pointing back to him... LA COSA NOSTRA.

clue

Id say it was the nasty arrow crabs to start, then i would agree with the filefish to clean up the left overs.
also it was the candlestick,in the study, and Ms peacock was in on it too!

Okay. All of you who guessed Arrow crabs I would have thought the same. In fact, that is why I bought them. Unfortunately, the arrow crabs spent there days on top of my gorgs grabbing nysis shrimp before the Octopus ate them all. It wasn't until after I added the Prickly Leatherjacket (Filefish) that the mass tank extinction happened. They literally pick at the worms and even the starfish. I couldn't believe my eyes when I witnessed an assault on one of the brittles. These filefish are so mellow and timid but when it comes to mysis shrimp, worms and small starfish they become mini Rambos.
